Acid Reflux and how to treat it easily

Do you regularly experience heartburn and a feeling of burning heat
rising through your chest into your throat? Do you sometimes gag and
cough to try and clear the feeling? The description above refers to
acid reflux.

It is common in many people, mostly women. In researching acid reflux
information, it seems that symptoms vary. Besides heartburn, above,
regurgitation also follows as a symptom.

It is a feeling of acid backing up into your throat or mouth. You may
recognize it as one of those acidic-tasting burps that may even include
vomiting some of the contents from your stomach.

Dyspepsia is another symptom that includes burping, feeling nauseous after
eating, bloating and/or stomach pain.

If you get acid reflux, you most likely will notice its appearance after
eating a large meal, when you are lying down flat, and/or when you bend over.
Being in those positions makes the path easier for the acid to move throughout
the esophageal passage.

Therefore, most attacks of acid reflux are usually at night. Many pregnant women
find that even if they never suffered from acid reflux before, may be experiencing
it as the baby grows. Generally, the reflux disappears after birth.

Certain foods can trigger acid reflux. Almost all of the acid reflux information
shows that avoiding these foods can definitely help. Citrus fruits, chocolate,
drinks containing caffeine, garlic and onions, spicy foods, some mints, and tomatoes.
Many other acidic foods cause problems.

Those are just examples of some of the foods and beverages that cause acid reflux.
Some foods that bother some people, don't necessary hurt others.

Acid reflux can lead to more serious conditions if it is not controlled.
For example, The acid from your stomach can actually burn your esophagus
and cause bleeding. Even though the acid reflux information states that it
is not usually a serious condition, it can be treated by taking
over-the-counter antacids to control the symptoms. But not a good long term idea.

When acid reflux can be serious is when acid reflux continues and is not
treated at all. It can cause scarring on the esophagus which leads to
constricting of the pathway and may even result in cancer.

It seems as though it can easily be controlled by over-the-counter medications
and there are some prescription medications that can be used to control acid reflux.
Although watching your diet is a better way to control the appearance of the problem.
Acid reflux should be treated, even if it is just for comfort.
